Dunsborough MTB Bike Skills
Develelopment Park
A Mountain Bike Skills Development Park is typically comprised of a variety of mountain bike trails and "Technical Trail Features" (TTFs) arranged in a park-like setting. TTFs are ideal for technical mountain bike skills development, and include natural obstacles (e.g. rocks and logs) and engineered features such as ramps, bridges, log rides, and dirt jumps. Interested in getting into cycling but not sure where to start? Are long and large bunch rides daunting or do you just want to improve your skills? Our orientation ride, free to new members, is geared towards new riders, riders with light experience, and riders who have never ridden in a club atmosphere.
The route followed is customised to the majority standard of the group. It's a "no drop" ride, meaning that we periodically stop and regroup all riders back together - no one is left behind.
The rides are designed to provide an introduction into "bunch etiquette and techniques" without pressure. They typically incorporate easy flat roads on quieter country roads around Dunsborough with virtually no traffic to deal with as well as optional time out on the roads.
Prior to rolling out there will be a quick instructional info session. We discuss how to ride safely, ride in a group and rules of the road. During the ride, at various intervals, the group will pause for further tips where you have an opportunity to ask questions. At the end of the ride, we catch up for that all important coffee/tea and brekky and opportunity to meet other club members and organise that next ride!
Welcome Rides are planned for the first Saturday of every month (subject to numbers).
  • Location: Dunsborough Outdoor Sportz Store carpark
  • Time: Orientation begins at 6.30 am and finishes around 9.00am.
  • Distance: 35 - 55km
  • Pace: Easy
  • Need: Road bike, spare tube, tyre levers, pump, helmet and a membership form completed or applied for.
